We've made it to the final scene, we're almost home, only
got quiet, poignant, meaningful, "it's all been worth it for
this" moment to go - drumming erupts, loud, insistant,
sounds like it's in the bloody tent. Screams waft over from
the fun fair. What's that horrible wailing noise? The
Acoustic music tent has started up for the day. We boom,
gesticulate, project our socks off - at last THE END. We
bow. They clap. We wave. They cheer. They loved it
anyway. Seven minutes to strike the costumes, props and
most of the set. We heave and lug, still drenched in sweat
from the performance as the next act sets up.
- Excuse me does it hurt when you fall out of the bin?
- Is that a real skeleton?
- My sister's called Stella.
- Can I have your autograph?
Talk to you later, promise.
