Hydroxyl radicals

These are formed by the irradiation of water
(remember the body contains mostly water!):

H2O	--->	H	+	OH
Water (Hydrogen and Oxygen)		Uncharged		Hydroxyl
		hydrogen free radical		free radical

Both the products of the above reaction have the potential to
cause cellular damage.
